WAYFINDING AND PRESENTING CONTENT

One of the first activities we did the first week was discussing about WAYFINDING and PRESENTING CONTEST
What does wayfinding mean? You can get more information clicking here: WAYFINDING

In this first unit we learnt some ideas to present assignment in a more practical and attractive way.
Following these simple advises, your students will be aware of the mail goals, they will understand better instructions, they will navigate more efficiently and, as a consequence they will be more productive and less frustrated:

What is our destination?
-       Learning goals: How might we share your intentions with students in a way that inspired them to collaborate with you and with their peers?
o   Share learning goals at the beginning of every learning experience, this way students may revisit them as needed.
o   Use media to personalize and stand out learning goals.
How will we reach our destination?
-       Instructions: How might instructions be attractive signs that orient students through learning experiences?
o   Address the 5 W’s and 1 H of the experience you create and incorporate the answers into your instructions.
o   Show instructions with something more that words, add visuals.
o   Include links to direct students to helpful extra resources.
What are the signs, cues and pathways?
-       Navigation: How can we design a learning experience that student navigate on their own?
o   Make up the learning experience with clear, accessible tasks.
o   Create an illustrative map to offer the students a general ideal of the unit.
o   Use visual cues and pathways to establish pauses and transitions that help students to be sure a task is done and it's time to move to another.
-       Page design: How might the apparience of a page encourage a student to work with you?
o   Use a balance of text, images and blank space to clarify content and direct students to the most important tasks.
o   Make sure you include the info required to complete an assignment.
